Nobody publishes prices. You ask five agencies in Dubai what an AI automation project costs and you get five versions of “it depends,” a discovery call, and a proposal with a number that seems to have been picked from the air.
It does depend. But “it depends” is not an answer, so here are the actual ranges we quote and see in the market, in dirhams, with the reasons behind them. We’re a software company, not a research firm, so treat these as practitioner numbers rather than official statistics.
The quick answer
For 2026 in Dubai and the wider UAE:
Simple workflow automation runs AED 3,000 to 8,000 per workflow. A WhatsApp or website AI chatbot runs AED 8,000 to 25,000 to build, plus AED 300 to 1,500 per month to operate. Document processing automation runs AED 15,000 to 50,000. A custom AI agent or integrated system runs AED 30,000 to 150,000 and up. Enterprise builds with multiple systems and departments go well beyond that.
Now the detail, because the ranges are wide and the reasons matter.
Tier 1: workflow automation (AED 3,000 to 8,000 per workflow)
This is the “connect the pipes” tier. Think invoice reminders, lead routing from your website to your CRM, automatic report emails, or syncing orders between platforms. It’s usually built on tools like Make, Zapier, or n8n, sometimes with a light AI layer for classification or drafting text.
What moves the price: how many systems are involved, whether they have decent APIs, and how much error handling you need. A two-step automation between Google Sheets and WhatsApp is cheap. A five-system flow involving an old ERP with no API is not.
Monthly cost: usually AED 100 to 500 for the platform subscription.
Tier 2: AI chatbots (AED 8,000 to 25,000 setup)
A chatbot that answers customer questions on WhatsApp or your website, trained on your actual business information, with handover to a human when needed. The lower end covers a focused bot with a clear scope, maybe 20 to 40 question types, in one or two languages. The upper end adds booking, payments, CRM integration, and Arabic-English handling that’s actually been tested rather than assumed.
Monthly costs here have three parts: hosting and platform fees, AI usage (the per-message cost of the language model), and Meta’s WhatsApp conversation fees if you’re on WhatsApp. Budget AED 300 to 1,500 per month for a typical SME. Our WhatsApp chatbot guide for UAE businesses breaks down these fees line by line.
Tier 3: document and data automation (AED 15,000 to 50,000)
Reading invoices, trade licences, contracts, or delivery notes and pushing clean data into your systems. The price depends almost entirely on how messy your documents are. Clean digital PDFs in a consistent format sit at the bottom of the range. Photographed handwritten delivery notes in mixed Arabic and English sit at the top, and honestly, sometimes we advise clients to fix the input process instead of paying us to fight bad scans.
Tier 4: custom AI agents and integrated systems (AED 30,000 to 150,000+)
This is where an AI system does multi-step work: qualifying leads and booking meetings on its own, managing a support queue end to end, or coordinating between your CRM, accounting, and operations software. Before you budget for this tier, read our comparison of AI agents vs chatbots, because a lot of companies pay agent prices for what is really a chatbot problem.
The wide range reflects scope. A single agent with a narrow job might be AED 30,000 to 50,000. A system spanning several departments with dashboards, permissions, and months of refinement climbs past AED 100,000.
What actually drives the price up
Four things, in our experience. First, integrations: every extra system roughly adds cost, and old systems without APIs add a lot. Second, Arabic language quality: getting Arabic right takes real testing, not a checkbox. Third, data cleanliness: if your product list lives in seven spreadsheets, someone has to fix that first. Fourth, compliance requirements: if you handle health, finance, or government data, expect extra work for data residency and the UAE Personal Data Protection Law.
What should NOT drive the price up
Buzzwords. You should not pay more because a proposal says “agentic” or “proprietary AI.” Almost everyone, including us, builds on the same foundation models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. The value is in the integration, the prompt and workflow design, and the testing, not in a secret model.
Cheap vs expensive: a real example
We’ve seen the same brief, an AI receptionist for a clinic, quoted at AED 6,000 by a freelancer and AED 90,000 by a large agency. The honest middle was around AED 20,000. The freelancer version had no calendar integration and broke on Arabic. The agency version included a six-month “transformation roadmap” the clinic didn’t ask for. Price alone tells you very little; ask exactly what’s included and what happens after launch.
Ongoing costs people forget
AI usage fees scale with volume, so a bot that gets popular costs more to run. WhatsApp conversation fees from Meta apply per conversation category. And every automation needs occasional maintenance, because the systems it connects to change. Budget 10 to 20 percent of the build cost per year for upkeep, or a small monthly retainer.
Where to start if the budget is small
Start with one Tier 1 or Tier 2 project that touches revenue or cash flow. Our list of 12 processes worth automating first is ranked by payback speed for exactly this reason. A working AED 10,000 project beats a stalled AED 100,000 one every time.
If you want a specific number for your situation, send us the brief. We quote fixed prices where the scope allows it, and we’ll tell you if the cheap option is genuinely good enough. Sometimes it is.
Around AED 3,000 to 5,000 gets a genuinely useful single workflow automation. Below that, you’re better off with off-the-shelf tools and an hour of setup help.
Typically AED 8,000 to 25,000 to build, plus AED 300 to 1,500 per month for platform fees, AI usage, and Meta’s WhatsApp conversation charges. Complex bots with payments and deep CRM integration cost more.
Different scopes hiding under the same label. One “chatbot” quote includes integration, Arabic testing, and support; another is a template with your logo. Compare what’s included, not just the number.
Yes, almost always: AI usage fees, platform or hosting subscriptions, WhatsApp fees if applicable, and maintenance. For a typical SME chatbot, AED 300 to 1,500 per month is a fair planning figure.
Sometimes, for simple and well-defined work. The risk is what happens after launch: bugs, WhatsApp policy changes, and integrations breaking. If you go the freelance route, agree in writing on who maintains it.
For automations tied to revenue or cash flow (lead response, invoice reminders, booking), clients commonly see payback within 2 to 6 months. Internal convenience automations take longer and are harder to measure.
